The University of Missouri is a Carnegie one research institution. The University was founded in 1839 and the first course in engineering was offered in 1840. In 1879, the nation's first electrical engineering department was formed at the University. Over its 160 years, the University of Missouri has been a leader in engineering education and research.
The Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico was founded in 1966 and is located in the heart of the "golden mile" in San Juan. From that start, the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico has grown to the largest private institution which graduates Hispanic engineers. The University has over 5000 students.
